New York spot gold gained $10.70 Thursday, closing at $3,322.90. The TSX Venture Exchange added 15.91 points to 773.44 while the TSX gold index rose 1.71 points to 496.88. Most gold miners moved little today, but there were outliers. Americas Gold and Silver Corp. (USA) had a good day, adding 10 cents to $1.35 on 5.05 million shares despite being silent since late last month. Lundin Gold Corp. (LUG) went the other way, dropping $2.14 to $69.51 on 1.54 million shares by disappointing the market with its second quarter production report.
Makko DeFilippo's Ero Copper Corp. (ERO) rose 63 cents to $20.14 on 1.26 million shares on new assays from its Furnas gold and copper project in Para, Brazil. The first assays from the 28,000-metre phase I drill program included a 105-metre intercept that averaged 0.77 gram of gold per tonne and 1.17 per cent copper, aided by a 63-metre section that ran 1.13 grams of gold per tonne and 1.3 per cent copper. That hole had been drilled in the Southeastern zone at the limit of the previously defined indicated resource.
