The S&P/TSX Cannabis Index added 4.11 to 154.24, while the CSE Composite Index added 9.87 to 558.88. A record spike in COVID-19 cases has put the Toronto and Peel regions of Ontario under fresh lockdowns, prompting cannabis retailers to once again shift to on-line ordering -- and, in some cases, to air veiled complaints about provincial cannabis regulations.

One of Ontario's largest retailers by store count is High Tide Inc. (HITI: $0.205), up half a cent to 20.5 cents on 2.02 million shares. It declared itself this morning to be "fully and immediately compliant" with the new lockdown orders. "Throughout the pandemic, we have remained agile in our operations," touted chief executive officer Raj Grover, presumably hoping to set High Tide apart from other companies that might not have been as prepared. He noted that curbside pickup at High Tide's affected locations became available this morning, with delivery services expected to start "shortly." Even faster on the draw was Fire & Flower Holdings Corp. (FAF: $0.84), which added eight cents to 84 cents on 1.12 million shares, after announcing that its affected locations can already offer both curbside pickup and free same-day delivery. CEO Trevor Fencott said he was pleased that Ontario has temporarily renewed the ability for cannabis retailers to offer these services. He then poked and prodded at the government to make the change permanent.
