New York spot gold added $7.70 to $1,463.40 on Wednesday. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 5.69 points to 530.63 while the TSX Gold Index added 3.30 points to 240.02. Most Canadian gold miners moved higher with bullion today. Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM) added $1.27 to $78.21 on 779,000 shares while Guyana Goldfields Inc. (GUY) added 10 cents to 66 cents on 1.42 million shares. Alamos Gold Inc. (AGI) went the other way, dropping three cents to $7.04 on 1.03 million shares.
Ari Sussman's Continental Gold Inc. (CNL), up four cents to $4.26 on 1.11 million shares, is poised to drill two promising new targets at its Buritica gold project in Colombia. The company has received a "key exploration licence" covering the Electra South and Orion targets, which is apparently all that was holding it back from starting a "much-anticipated maiden drill program in the near term." Continental says that the footprint of both systems is "vast" -- promoter-speak for footprints the size of what it has at the existing Yaragua and Veta Sur deposits.
