The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score on Tuesday was a mediocre 89-113-98 as the TSX Venture Exchange fell two points to 974 while polished diamond prices inched higher. Corey Dias's Anfield Energy Ltd. (AEC) jumped 2.5 cents to 16 cents on 5.52 million shares today. Anfield, an eight-center in late April, had a strong May, although without benefit of much news. The company did close its twice-boosted placement of 57.65 million shares at 8.5 cents in mid-May, raising nearly $4.9-million for development of its West Slope vanadium and uranium projects in Wyoming, but Mr. Dias, president and chief executive officer, has not said what work he has planned.
Patrick Power and Buddy Doyle s Arctic Star Exploration Corp. (ADD) lost 2.5 cents to 15 cents on 1.89 million shares. The company is waiting for diamond counts from several new kimberlite discoveries on its Diagras project, just northeast of Diavik and east of Ekati in the Northwest Territories. In the meantime, it is touting whatever new information it can get its hands on. (The tactic is working, in a sense, as while Arctic Star's stock has slowly retreated from an exuberant mid-May high of 29 cents, it remains far above the four-cent range where it had been mired at the start of its successful spring drill program.)
