The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score on Monday was a weak 66-86-148 as the TSX Venture Exchange fell five points to 540 while polished diamond prices gained 0.1 per cent. Guy Bourassa's struggling would-be lithium miner, Nemaska Lithium Inc. (NMX), gained one-half cent to 20.5 cents on 1.59 million shares. Construction at its Whabouchi mine near Nemaska and a processing plant at Shawinigan has been halted while Mr. Bourassa seeks additional cash to complete the well over budget, now $1.3-billion project.
Chuck Fipke and Chad Ulansky's stalled diamond promotion, Metalex Ventures Ltd. (MTX), closed unchanged at three cents on 18,000 shares. The company agreed to sell its 62.5-per-cent interest in the James Bay Lowlands metals project in the Ring of Fire district of Northern Ontario. Metalex will receive 2.78 million shares of the unnamed, private, arms-length buyer; $278,000 worth at a deemed value of 10 cents per share. Metalex will hold 29 per cent of the private company's stock once the deal closes.
