The TSX Venture Exchange lost 2.49 points to close at 974.56 Tuesday. Mark Binns has filed a preliminary prospectus to list his first capital pool shell, Hopefield Ventures Inc., with a $2.5-million initial public offering at 10 cents. The IPO agent is PI Financial Corp.

Mr. Binns, 46, is a tech promoter in Vancouver. Long ago, from 1997 to 2000, he was a software designer and systems engineer at Nortel Networks Corp. He then worked as a tech consultant to several companies. From 2009 to 2013, he was the chief marketing officer of Mobio Technologies Inc. (MBO: $0.10), a social media marketing company. Then from September, 2013, to July, 2014, he was Mobio's chief executive officer. Under his leadership, the stock briefly traded up to 96 cents, but by the time he left, it was at seven cents. From 2014 to 2018, Mr. Binns held the title of chief revenue officer at a private company, ScreenScape Networks Inc., an on-line advertiser.
