Meridian Mining SE has filed a case in the Supreme Court of British Columbia seeking to identify somebody who has been posting the minutes of a contentious May 24, 2018, board meeting in a Stockhouse forum. The company says that the minutes are confidential and discuss sensitive personnel matters. Meridian is seeking a court order that will assist it in identifying the source of the leak.
The request is contained in a petition that Meridian filed at the Vancouver courthouse on Thursday, Aug. 9. The company is asking for a court order that will help it obtain the real names of two Stockhouse users, "Watsonmel" and "Melsfriend." In particular, it is asking for IP addresses of the users. Such addresses can be used to trace users through their Internet service providers.
Meridian's complaint stems from posts that appeared in the Stockhouse forums between July 8 to Aug. 3, 2018, and again on Aug. 9. In particular, the company complains that the posts included the draft minutes of a board meeting that the company held in London, England, on May 24, 2018. The company says that it has had Stockhouse remove the meeting minutes more than once, but fears that those minutes will continue to spread if the person posting them is not identified.
