The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Friday was an upbeat 78-60-140. The TSX Venture Exchange rose fractionally to 715 while polished diamond prices edged lower. Ryan Kalt's moribund specialty minerals (and sometimes diamond) explorer, Clean Commodities Corp. (CLE), gained one-half cent to 3.5 cents on 5.02 million shares. The company has been silent since July, when it said it was putting itself on the block or seeking another way to boost its market value.
James Bruchs's Tsodilo Resources Ltd. (TSD: $0.42) has recovered more diamonds from its bulk sample of the BK16 kimberlite in Botswana. The company has recovered a third parcel of diamonds, 279 more stones weighing 43.95 carats, from further processing of the 5.3 tonnes of concentrate obtained in April from a 2,000-tonne test of the pipe. In April, Tsodilo recovered 101 diamonds weighing 18.57 carats during commissioning of the plant. In June, the company said that it had recovered another 130 stones weighing 17.79 carats. In all, Tsodilo now has 510 diamonds weighing a total of 80.31 carats, which works out to just under four carats per hundred tonnes.
