New York spot gold gained $2.80 to $1,213.30 on Wednesday. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 2.04 points to 698.82 while the TSX Gold Index added 0.37 point to 176.45. Detour Gold Corp. (DGC) led Canadian gold miners lower today, dropping 34 cents to $12.10 on 1.15 million shares. Guyana Goldfields Inc. (GUY) went the other way, adding 14 cents to $3.98 on 936,000 shares.
Steve Burleton's GT Gold Corp. (GTT), down 15 cents to 59 cents on 1.60 million shares, says it has received "high-grade" assays of up to 4.67 grams of gold per tonne over 40.02 metres at Saddle South, an "exciting" gold discovery last year on its project in the Golden Triangle district of northwestern British Columbia. The interval included a 2.82-metre zone that averaged 32.65 grams per tonne and another 3.88-metre interval that averaged 13.78 grams per tonne. The assays, from an initial eight holes of the current program, included several other high-grade hits over modest intervals, within broader zones yielding lesser grades. One hole produced 0.33 gram of gold per tonne across 170 metres; another yielded 1.29 grams per tonne across 70.44 metres.
