New York spot gold fell $3.30 to $1,317.90 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange added 8.22 points to 782.91 while the TSX Gold Index lost 0.37 point to 191.34. Torex Gold Resources Inc. (TXG), a big gainer this week, adding $1.20 Wednesday and Thursday following an encouraging first quarter, lost $1.16 to $12.74 on 571,000 shares today. There was no news to account for the drop.

Jacques Levesque and Dustin Angelo's Anaconda Mining Inc. (ANX), down two cents to 37 cents on 214,000 shares, has received assays of up to 752.54 grams of gold per tonne over 0.5 metre at its Goldboro project in Nova Scotia. There were several high-grade hits over similarly narrow intervals within the results of the latest four holes. The tests yielded intervals with more substantial widths but lower grades, including 2.72 grams per tonne across 20 metres and 43.36 grams per tonne across nine metres. Mr. Angelo, president and chief executive officer, called the latest results "exciting," although investors were more enthused in April, when the company received assays of up to 11.27 grams per tonne over 13.5 metres.
